The
Story
The movie, “NOW YOU SEE ME” is about the
“Four Horsemen”, a group of magicians. Who pull off a series of mind boggling
heists against “dirty dealing” businessmen and shower the proceeds most times
to their audiences. An FBI agent and an Interpol detective try to track these
magicians almost fruitlessly, because they always seem to be one step ahead of
the law. It’s a “Tom and Jerry” kinda movie literally; where the chase never
ends.
Heads-Up
Lately, I seem not to be able to watch
movies without being distracted by the flaws inherent in them...I don’t
naturally set out – with a flashlight on the dark - looking for flaws in movies but, I somehow
just notice them; and believe me this cuts the flow. I’d like to enjoy a good
movie “mahn”!
You know, I like to be humoured
sometimes. Trust me; I’m not a “killjoy” or anything like that, but “Now You
See Me”, is one movie I couldn’t help noticing “slips” almost in every
scene...did I just say that? Yes I did, duh!!!
Apart from the fact that “magic” isn’t
really something exciting to majority of us in the 21st century and the fact
that, we already “kinna” know exactly what’s going to happen. Check out these “goofs and slips.”
Goofs
and Slips
Just 18 minutes into the movie, during
the “bank heist” show. When the French banker is called onto the stage, Daniel
points out that they wouldn't be there, but for Arthur Tressler. As he says
this, Henley is visible to the left of screen with her hands by her side
(around 17mins55secs). Yet from the next shot, her right arm is suddenly raised
pointing at Arthur, almost at the same time (around 17mins57secs).
Again, Alma's hair is tied in a bun when
she is talking with Agent Rhodes (around 25mins3 3sec – 26mins37secs) just
before they go into the interrogation room to meet the banker, Etienne Forcier,
from the Four Horsemen show; when she goes into the room her hair is all of a
sudden in a ponytail...like duh?
Before the car blows up, just to the
right of the screen there’s a tyre on the floor; it came off from the wrecked
car, but when the car blows up, the explosion is then seen going over the tyre.
When the fire clears out, the tyre isn't there anymore (this happens at around
1hr 24min 44secs), but it reappears a few shots later (at around 1hr 24mins 49, 50,
54-56secs), what was the director thinking?
The FBI agent finds out that the safe had
disappeared from the warehouse, Cowan screams, (around 1hr 29mins 40secs),
"You tell me what's going on right now because this is bullshit!" and
Evans then begins pretending to play a violin ("Bullshit" being the
trigger word “sorta” activate the hypnosis on him by the Horsemen; just like
the banker. But on their way to the safe house while on the bridge, Cowan says
(at around 1hr 27mins 13secs) "Despite their BULLSHIT Robin Hood
razzle-dazzle, your magicians are nothing more than common thieves". I
expected Evans at this point to have begun being hypnotized, since the word,
“BULLSHIT” was mentioned.
Last
Words
Anyways , like I said earlier the movies
contained some intriguing and fantastic moments if you ask me, so I’d suggest
you just forget you ever read this review, get your ticket and go see this
movie...I’m sure you wouldn't even notice the flaws.
